The Estate
- By: Oladipo Agboluaje
- Director: Femi Elufowoju, jr
Our production of this new play set in contemporary Lagos, Nigeria, played to capacity audiences and received rave reviews.
Helen Adeyemi is frantically trying to make her husband’s funeral the media event of the year. Her reputation is on the line to make the festivities the talk of the town and everything must be seen to be going smoothly. But as his children discuss inheritance and house servants begin to question their role, the facade of a happy, desirable household inevitably begins to crack…
A muti-layered social comedy, The Estate deals with classic themes - family feuds, illicit relationships, class divides - but with a contemporary Nigerian edge.
